Biography

Mr. Hunter has been practicing law for over 30 years. Since 1999, he has focused exclusively on family law, with the past two decades dedicated to representing high-net-worth clients in complex family law matters in Los Angeles.

A National Merit Scholar, Mr. Hunter graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan in three years, earning two bachelor’s degrees. He received his Juris Doctor from the Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1992 and later earned a master’s degree from Emory University in 2000.

After relocating to California from Georgia, Mr. Hunter began his family law career in Los Angeles in 2004 at Susan Wiesner’s firm, where he developed the foundation of his practice. He credits his early experience there with shaping his skills as a lawyer, writer, negotiator, and advocate.

Over the next two decades, Mr. Hunter practiced with prominent family law firms, including Trope & Trope, and founded and managed his own solo family law and mediation practice in Beverly Hills for 12 years. After 20 years of experience, Mr. Hunter returned to Susan E. Wiesner, A Law Corporation, bringing with him the depth, perspective, and judgment gained throughout his career in what he considers a full-circle moment.

Mr. Hunter is licensed to practice law in California, Texas, and Georgia, and has been recognized as a Super Lawyers honoree among Southern California’s top family law attorneys every year from 2010 through 2024.

In his free time, Mr. Hunter enjoys spending time with his teenage son and their pack of Dalmatians, traveling—particularly to Italy—and supporting University of Michigan and SMU athletics.
